Lights, CAMERA, Action!
You have all seen the show (we hope) which means you have also seen the number of ways we present coins. No, we are not talking about Andy and Tyler. We are talking about the control room and the direction in which takes place to present a show such as you see every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night. A major part of that direction involves the cameras. In our first of many more features to come that highlight the individuals behind the scenes, Nikki is the quick action operator of all seven cameras it takes to make the show look the way it does.
Gaining her camera operator status for The Coin Vault in June of 2016, she has worked for our parent company, SilverTowne, for the last eight years. One of a few employees that pull double duty during the day and nighttime for the company as a whole, she never could have imagined taking on such a large role for the longest running coin television program that broadcasts into millions of homes every week.
“I saw an opportunity and I took it,” Nikki stated. “They needed someone to learn the job from a backup standpoint and eventually I took it over completely.”
Navigating different aspects of the business, one of the biggest advantages she has is getting to see product before everyone else and getting to learn a lot beforehand.
“I work retail during the day and knowing about products that a customer sees on TV and asks about in the shop is a major help to me,” she said. “Operating cameras for the show has translated into me being an even better worker doing retail because I now have more knowledge than ever. I feel much more prepared to answer customer questions.”
With nearly three years under her belt, she has literally seen and “shot” a little over 400 shows. Keeping that in mind, the close personal relationships developed with other members of The Coin Vault crew is inevitable.
“It’s for sure a family atmosphere,” she said. “It’s a family business and that spills over into a lot of day-to-day operations but especially the nighttime gig I have. We are definitely close and it just proves that even when you aren’t necessarily blood, you’re family if you have an interest in making this business better every day. The small bunch of us at night are probably TOO close, but I’ll just leave it at that.”
And with the mention of family, Nikki believes that it is the biggest reason viewers tune in every week to watch the show.
“I think people enjoy how not only knowledgeable the boys are, but also how personable they are,” she revealed. “They are brothers and you can really tell that when you are watching them. I know them off camera and they do a good job at relaying that personality they have in everyday life on camera.”
When not producing visual magic for the show or working in retail during the day, Nikki enjoys living life with her husband Jason and their two fur babies, Captain and Morgan. She is a vacation junkie and never shies away from having a new food or beverage experience!
