The year 2020 has just begun and it is already full of United States Mint releases. While not first up on their production schedule, the release of the American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin and the 2020 Congratulations Set in Original Government Packaging is surely their first big hitter. Even more so because they, like last year, are being released simultaneously during the Florida United Numismatist (F.U.N.) Show in Orlando tomorrow.
Essentially the same coin but in different packaging, the American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin features Adolph A. Weinman’s figure of Lady Liberty on the obverse. The reverse features the heraldic eagle with a shield, an olive branch in its right talon, and arrows to the left of it. Featured also above the eagle are 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies. Each coin will bear the ‘W’ mintmark representing the West Point Mint.
The traditional one-ounce Proof Coin will come in a blue velvet, satin-lined presentation case accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The Congratulations Set will feature the coin in a presentation style folder with an outer sleeve. Encapsulated in the folder so that both the obverse and reverse of the coin are visible, the Certificate of Authenticity is presented on the back of the folder as the specifications can be found printed on the back of the sleeve in addition to the official seal of the United States Department of the Treasury.
With the certified 2020 W Proof Silver Eagles already on presale status for the past few weeks, there are sure to be options for the Silver Eagles from the 2020 Congratulations Set on sale soon. Stay tuned for all options for both designations as there are always sure to be more available to us.
