“Sales teams are made up of individuals with different personalities and talents. When the ‘chemistry’ is right, it’s professional bliss.” - Unknown
I have been with The Coin Vault for nine years now and I must admit my current role is my absolute favorite. As the sales manager of the Preferred Customer Division, I feel that I am uniquely positioned to influence and empower our sales teams to attain greater levels of success.
I came into this role already knowing most of our elite clients from my former position as the Head of Operations for our call center. One of my favorite parts of what I do now is to strategically play “matchmaker” with our customers and our Preferred Customer Division advisors. It is fun and satisfying to watch their relationships grow.
My goal was to create a team that was so unique that it could not be replicated by any other business. The overwhelming amount of positive feedback from our clients shows us that over the past year we have proved with hard work, dedication, and continuous numismatic studying that there is an extreme benefit to being involved with our Preferred Customer Division.
Another thing I have learned managing this unique sales division is there is a time to manage and there is a time to lead. Metrics and deadlines are a great way to measure performance, but it does not drive it. I work to develop myself and my team and find ways to motivate and inspire my advisors to strive for excellence. As their manager, I set targets that are practical, comfortable, and natural.
The sales team here is different. We are tailored to meet the needs of our customers and to listen to what they want and guide them into what fits best with their collection. We research for them and we inspect their coins based on their personal preferences. Our relationships are strong enough to know when unique or rare items come in which one of our clients needs it for their collection or would absolutely love to have it.
One of the biggest factors in successfully leading my team is communication. It is a two-way street and my door is always open for questions, feedback, and ideas. The advisors come to me with excellent suggestions that we often put into motion. I respect, value, and support everyone on my team and could not imagine doing this without anyone that is here now.
Winning is fun and celebrating success is key. Rewarding and recognizing wins, even the small ones, cultivates an environment that is entertaining. I find that celebrating creates motivation and even if the reward is little, it goes a long way!
Over the last year, we as a team have worked very hard to build a strong foundation that would lead to long-term success. I look forward to continued growth within our department and our company as a whole.
