The United States Mint is once again getting ready for another big release. This time in the form of the 2022-W One-Ounce Uncirculated American Gold Eagle from West Point. Beginning at 12pm EST tomorrow, June 16th, the collector edition coin will be made available with a “TBD” listed for retail currently.
Limited to 9,000 in both product and mintage, the 22-karat gold American Eagle will feature the redesigned reverse depicting a majestic eagle. In addition, the reverse will feature the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “50 DOLLARS,” and “1 OZ. FINE GOLD.” Struck in one Troy ounce of 99.99% gold, the 2022-dated Uncirculated (Burnished) coin will have a $50 denomination.
Arriving in a black presentation case with the United States Mint seal on the lid, the coin will also come accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. In addition, it will feature a new reeded edge variation to help combat counterfeiting. This was also introduced in 2021 with the new reverse design in celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the American Gold and Silver Eagle programs.
