Final 2022 American Innovation $1 Coin Available Tomorrow From U.S. Mint

The United States Mint is gearing up for its last release in the 2022 American Innovation $1 Coin series tomorrow. Available at 12pm EST, the coin will be honoring the Volunteer State: Tennessee.

Available 25-coin rolls and 100-coin bags from both Philadelphia and Denver, the $1 coin honors Tennessee’s formation of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) which Congress created in 1933 to construct transmission lines to help farms and villages that were not otherwise able to use electricity at reasonable rates. The reverse depicts a Tennessee farm with newly installed power lines lining the road. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY,” and “TENNESSEE” can be seen inscribed on the design.

The obverse of the designs feature a representation of the Statue of Liberty with “IN GOD WE TRUST” AND “$1” inscribed. It also features a privy mark in the shape of a stylized gear representing industry and innovation. The edge of the coins are incused featuring the year, mint mark and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

In its fourth full year of releases in addition to an introductory coin unveiled in 2018, the American Innovation Dollar Program is a multi-year series that aims to honor innovation and innovators from each state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands with $1 coins.
