U.S. Navy 1oz Silver Medal Up Next for United States Mint

The United States Mint is ready for the release of their next in the Armed Forces 1oz Silver Medal Program. Beginning at 12pm EST, the .999 fine silver medal will honor and feature the United States Navy.

U.S. Navy destroyer John Paul Jones is seen on the obverse cutting through the water with the USS Constitution behind it. Up above it is an F-18 Hornet formation flying by, leaving smoke trails in the sky and honoring both ships. “UNITED STATES NAVY” and “DON’T GIVE UP THE SHIP” is seen inscribed on the medal with the latter spoken by Commander James Lawrence to his crew when he was mortally wounded. This occurred during the War of 1812 on the USS Chesapeake.

The reverse of the medal features a wall of soldiers manning the rail as the American flag flies in the background. “HONOR,” “COURAGE,” and “COMMITMENT” are seen inscribed, the Navy’s core values.

With a matte finish, the one Troy ounce silver medal will come in Original Government Packaging accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
