Ulysses S. Grant Silver Medal Up Next From the Presidential Medal Program

The 18th medal in the Presidential Silver Medal Series from the United States Mint will officially be available today beginning at 12pm EST.

Featuring President Ulysses S. Grant, the obverse features the bust of President Grant with the inscription “ULYSSES S. GRANT” to the left and right of him. The reverse depicts a laurel wreath and the inscriptions “PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,” “INAUGURATED FIRST TERM MARCH 4, 1869,” and “SECOND TERM MARCH 4, 1873.”

President Ulysses S. Grant was the Commanding General who led the Union to victory during the American Civil War. After the war, he was appointed Secretary of War by then-President Andrew Johnson. Grant would run against Johnson for the Presidency in 1868 and win as he served two terms and left office in 1877.

Comprised of one Troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the medal will have a matte finish and come in Original Government Packaging accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. It will retail for $75.00.
