Folds Of Honor: A Look Into The Coin Vault's Exclusive Certified Coin Partnership

It was back in June that The Coin Vault announced its exclusive certified coin partnership with Folds of Honor. While we gave you some details about the labels and how 10% of each sale of a coin would go back to their foundation, we wanted to go in further detail about this incredible foundation and how proud we are to support their mission.

Folds of Honor – How It Started

On a flight home after his second tour of duty in Iraq, Lt. Col Dan Rooney watched firsthand how families were faced with a harsh reality after a loved one in uniform had fallen or was disabled in combat. An F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, Lt. Col Rooney’s plane landed as the pilot announced they carried along with them the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin on board. It was then that he watched as Corporal Bucklin’s twin brother walked alongside the flag-covered casket to meet his family on the tarmac, one member of which was the deceased Corporal’s young son, Jacob.

It was then that Lt. Col Rooney dedicated his life to supporting and bringing together patriotic Americans, meeting sacrifice with hope through Folds of Honor.

Mission

Since 2007, Folds of Honor has provided over 44,000 educational scholarships to the children and spouses of America’s fallen or disabled military personnel. Over 40% of those scholarships are represented by minority recipients, making the recipient family as diverse as our nation we call home. Folds of Honor has now expanded their mission to the family members of America’s first responders. They are dedicated to supporting and lifting those who protect our freedoms and letting their families know they will not be forgotten. Through empowerment and finding what unites us all, Folds of Honor create opportunities for people from every walk of life through education. Ninety percent of annual expenses, including donated funds, support their scholarship program.

Logo

The folded flags we see are directly tied to the heavy price that was paid for our freedom. However, Folds of Honor has chosen to also view it as a symbol of hope and, therefore, made it its logo as it reflects their mission and represents the ideals that make this country a democracy. The folded flag also represents the honor and the sacrifice of America’s heroes while also giving hope to the bearers or their legacy.

Scholarships

Educational scholarships are available for military and first responder families. Folds of Honor looks to honor the spouses and children of their service members by pledging to stand in the financial gap as they take their next step in their educational goals. Annual application windows are provided along with guidelines and eligibility requirements.

Ways To Give

There are several ways to give your support to the Folds of Honor Foundation as every donation benefit deserving military and first responder families. Aside from mail in donations, they welcome donations made in honor or memory of a loved one and through estate planning in your will or as a beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance plan. They also accept donations in the form of vehicles and workplace contributions.
