230th Anniversary Flowing Hair Silver Medal Releasing Tomorrow From United States Mint

The 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair Silver Medal is paying homage to the original 1794 Flowing Hair dollar coin tomorrow as it is set for release at 12pm EST from the United States Mint. The original dollar coin, which was also considered the United States’ first dollar coin, was also issued on October 15th exactly 230 years ago.

Struck at Philadelphia, the .999 fine silver medal features the portrait of Liberty facing right as she is surrounded by 15 stars representing the 15 states that had ratified the Constitution in 1794. LIBERTY is inscribed along the top and 2024 is inscribed along the bottom. The reverse design also stays true to Mint Chief Engraver Robert Scot’s original image as it features a laurel wreath surrounding an eagle with spread wings in the center. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is inscribed along the outer edge.

The modern depiction of the original 1794-dated dollar coin will come in a capsule and placed in a clamshell style box. It will then be placed in a black presentation case and accompanied by a unique certificate of authenticity. Mintage and product limits as capped at 75,000. Additionally, 1,794 of the medals will feature the “230” privy mark. Also, 230 of the privy marked medals will include a certificate of authenticity signed by the current United States Mint Director, Ventris C. Gibson.

Retail is set at $104.00 will the initial household limit set at just one.
