Released on Friday, March 1st, was the 2019 Proof Set in Original Government Packaging. Much like previous years, the 10-coin set contains the annual release of five quarters within the America the Beautiful Program as well as the Native American $1 coin, Kennedy half dollar, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel, and the Lincoln penny. But wait, there’s more?
The United States Mint continues to shake things up from year to year and 2019 is no different. In the first of three releases, a special edition Lincoln penny with a proof finish has been included in the annual release of the proof set. It features a ‘W’ mintmark representing West Point Mint’s strike of the coin while being secured in clear United States Mint plastic wrap.
This is the first release of three in 2019 as the 2019 Silver Proof Set will feature an additional reverse proof finish penny and the Uncirculated Coin Set will include an additional uncirculated finish penny. According to the United States Mint, these three special edition premium pennies are a thank you to the coin hobby’s loyal customer base.

- Lowell National Historical Park in Massachusetts
- American Memorial Park in the Northern Mariana Islands
