“We are live in five, four, three, two, one…”
Brent has been saying those words in some form or fashion for 18 years. While starting out doing graphics in 2001, he has now worked himself into the Director of Engineering and Operations for The Coin Vault. So basically, he runs the show. Andy and Tyler would not be able to do what they do in front of the camera without Brent running things behind the camera.
From directing the show every other week to fixing, upgrading, maintenance, and system design, Brent is first and foremost an engineer that keeps everything we need to go live on air every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday operating.
“When the new studio was built here in Indiana structurally, I was in charge of building it internally from an equipment standpoint,” Brent said. “All the wires, cameras, lights, systems, integration, etc. And then you have to keep all that running and up-to-date. That is what I do the most on top of directing how the show looks every other week.”
His favorite part?
“I enjoy the engineering aspect,” he said. “Making everything work and getting the show out for The Coin Vault customers to see is a challenge but also very rewarding.”
The way people see us and the presentation of the show, in general, is something that Brent is heavily involved in and one of the biggest reasons we are still able to keep the audience we have gathered over the last 30+ years.
“I think a lot of people like the way we present the show as a whole which is more than just a sale,” Brent stated. “We make it entertaining as much as we can while also making it informational. There are actual conversational moments and entertainment value to what we do while also trying to sell coins. It’s not heavy on the sale and everything else falls by the wayside. We take pride in how people are able to perceive us and we hope that means they get to laugh or smile while also watching a sales pitch.”
And no doubt, all of the hard work that goes on behind and in front of the camera to make that happen is a group effort and Brent plays a huge role in that effort.
“We have got a very professional and dedicated team,” he claimed. “There is a tremendous amount of leg work that happens off camera from product acquirement to data entry to graphics and cameras.”
While still a resident of Tennessee, Brent travels every other week to Indiana for directing and maintenance of the studio. He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and his three dogs. Also a movie buff, Brent can impersonate and quote movies with the best of them. (Our personal favorite may or may not be Sling Blade….mustard, biscuits. You get the point.)
