The time has finally come that the United States Mint will release the 2022-W 1oz Proof American Silver Eagle. On sale tomorrow starting at 12pm EST, the coin, in addition to the Congratulations set, will be available to the public.
Struck at West Point, the coin was initially slated for an early 2022 release (February) until it was postponed and put on the To Be Determined list of products. It finally got its release date nailed down again for the April 14th date. Featuring the new reverse that was unveiled and sold in the latter half of 2021, the coin will depict an eagle in flight as it approaches a landing with an oak branch in its talons. The Proof coin will also feature the added security included in the reeded edge as it was introduced last year for the 2021 Type 2 American Silver Eagle.
Struck in 99.9% silver with the ‘W’ mint mark on the reverse, the coin will come encapsulated inside of a black presentation box and accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity. Retailing at $73, there are no current mintage, product, or household order limits.
The Congratulations set, which will retail at $75, has a product limit of 30,000 and a household order limit set at three. The Proof Silver Eagle will come in a presentation folder and an outer sleeve with the Certificate of Authenticity printed on the back.
