The United States Mint is gearing up for 2024 in some big ways and they are letting us in on some of their initial plans for the new year ahead. Very few products have “set dates” while most of the schedule appears to have Spring, Summer, and Fall attached to their description.
Starting right off the bat is the release of the 2024 Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coin Program on January 4th. Included in the program is a $5 Proof and Uncirculated Gold Coin from West Point, a Proof Clad Half Dollar from San Franciso, Clad Uncirculated Half Dollar from Denver, a Proof and Uncirculated Silver Dollar from Philadelphia, and a three-coin Proof set from Philadelphia, San Francisco, and West Point.
On January 16th, the always highly anticipated and first collector edition of the American Silver Eagle of the year will be available. Struck at West Point, the 2024 Proof One-Ounce American Silver Eagle will be released individually and in the Congratulations Set.
Entering its sixth official year (seventh including 2018’s inaugural release), the American Innovation Dollar Program will continue with its first of five releases in 2024 honoring Illinois. The coins will be available in rolls and bags from Philadelphia and Denver on January 25th.
Just four days later and closing out the releases for January, the Native American Dollar will release in rolls, bags, and boxes.
The month of February will kick off with the 19th release in the Presidential Silver Medal Program honoring the 19th President of the United States, Rutherford B. Hayes. The medal will be struck at San Francisco.
February 8th will see the fourth release in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution Platinum Proof Coin Series. A five-year series (2021-2025), the coins honor the five freedoms in the First Amendment. This year the coin will depict the Right to Assemble and be struck at West Point.
The first of five 2024 American Womens Quarters will be available on February 15th honoring Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray. The other incredible women set to be honored this year include The Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, Zitkala-Ša (Red Bird), and Celia Cruz. The program began in 2022 and will run through 2025.
Following up just shy of two weeks later, the 2024 Proof American Women Quarters Set from San Francisco will be available.
Rounding out the month of February will be the Greatest Generation Commemorative Coin Program. The program will release Proof and Uncirculated versions of the $5 Gold Coin, Clad Half Dollar, and Silver Dollar. A three-coin Proof set will also be available.
The Spring, tentatively speaking, will see the 2024 One-Ounce Proof Gold Buffalo, Proof American Gold Eagle Coins, Burnished American Silver Eagle, and many more staple products. As always, release dates could change. Stay tuned for more information as it is updated!
