2025 is officially here and the United States Mint has already started releasing new products. Let us look ahead even further to see what they have cooking up for this next year.
On January 2nd, they released their first products. Celebrating the United States Marine Corps’ 250th anniversary, the commemorative coin program featured a Proof and Uncirculated $5 gold coin from West Point, a Proof and Uncirculated half dollar from San Francisco, a Proof and Uncirculated Silver Dollar from Philadelphia, and a 3-coin Proof set featuring all three Proof coins from the series.
Tomorrow, the Mint will release the first 2025-dated American Innovation Dollar in rolls and bags from Philadelphia and Denver. The state of Arkansas will be honored as the coin will feature Raye Montague, the designer of the United States Navy’s Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate (ship).
Thursday, January 9th, will see the first 2025 major release in the collector edition of the American Silver Eagle program. The 2025 W Proof Silver Eagle will be available beginning at 12pm EST. Retailing at $95, the initial household limit is set at 25 with no mintage or product limit. On the same day, the 2025 Congratulations Set will also be released in conjunction with the Proof Silver Eagle. The set will retail for $97 and have a household limit of three and product limit of 55,000. There is no mintage limit. Different from years past, the coin will be encapsulated and placed in a clamshell black presentation box. It will come with an outer box sleeve that features a “To” and “From” on the outside to write a personal message.
Rounding out the jam-packed month of January, the Mint will release, in rolls, bags, and boxes, the 2025 Native American Dollar featuring Mary Kawena Pukui. She was a Native Hawaiian scholar, author, composer, and dancer whose translations, compositions, and ethnographic work maintained the Hawaiian language and culture for generations afterwards.
The month of February will start off with the first of five 2025 American Women quarters. The last year for the four-year program, Ida B. Wells will be the first honored. The quarter dollar will be released in rolls and bags.
The rest of February features the release of the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Silver Medal, the last Proof Platinum American Eagle Coin in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution program, and the American Women Quarters Proof Set.
We will circle back later in the year to announce even more United States Mint updates. As always, dates are subject to change.
