CCAC Recommends Designs for 25th Anniversary Sacagawea Gold Coin

Back in late February, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) recommended their designs for the half ounce gold coin that will be produced in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Sacagawea dollar. The .9999 fine gold dollar is set to be issued by the United States mint this year.

Coin World reports that the coins will feature a ‘W’ mint mark as they will be struck at the West Point Mint, but no details about their finish or mintage limit have been disclosed. The Mint, however, has confirmed that the 25th anniversary gold coins will depict the original inscriptions of the original circulation strikes from the series that began back in 2000.

The obverse will showcase the profile of Sacagawea with her infant son, Jean Baptiste, on her back, which was designed by sculptor Glenna Goodacre. The reverse will feature the Soaring Eagle designed by former U.S. Mint Sculptor/Engraver Thomas D. Rogers, Sr.
